Can't Get Enough Pirates!

I know, I know, you are all getting sick of seeing this stamp set right? Sorry, this will be my last post using this for a while. Even if I make anything else with it, I will wait to post it so I can give you all a break, LOL. I am really not sure why I love this set so much, my love of Halloween and seeing all of the cute little kids dressed up or my love of Pirates of the Caribbean and Johnny Depp (this set so reminds me of that movie)! Probably both!

Well on with the card details. The card base is Basic Gray cardstock. The top portion of the card uses SU's new designer paper called Cast-a-Spell which is layered onto Basic Black cardstock. The bottom piece of designer series paper is from an older retired package of paper called Ghostly Greetings. I just love how these coordinate even though they didn't come from the same package of designer series papers. I know that you can't really see this but I sprayed both pieces of designer paper with my homemade shimmer spray to make they sparkle!

The main image is stamped with black ink on Whisper White cardstock and was then colored in with red marker and the skull and cross bones were highlighted with Crystal Effects to make them glisten. When stamping the sentiment I used my SAMJ to make sure that it was straight. I stamped with craft black ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.

The ribbon used is from the new Mini Catalog and is actually shown as a Christmas ribbon. I really think it looks great with this set though because of the stitching on the ribbon which matches the dots leading to the X. To add a little something to this, I pulled out my retired Chills & Thrills rub-ons and put these two skulls on the ribbon. Just adorable huh? Did you know that you can use SU's rub-ons on the ribbon. It is super easy and looks just wonderful. Can you picture the possibilities doing this? Give it a try on your next card, you will love the results!

Hope you all had a great Saturday.

Happy Stampin!

Quilted Butterfly

If you have followed this blog for any amount of time you will know that I don't normally work with bright colors on my projects. I stick more to fall colors as they are my favorites but as I was experimenting the other day making the Christmas card with the quilting technique I decided to give it a try with some of the other designer papers I had on hand and this is one of those quilted pieces. I don't really care for how the photo turned out as it really doesn't do this card justice, it is much prettier in person.

I used the new designer paper called Kaleidoscope. As I said, I don't usually purchase papers that are bright like this one but thought I would give it a chance as I had seen some cards using this paper in the gallery at SCS and liked them. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this quilted background using these papers. I thought it would be great to not hide the pattern to much so I decided to use the rub-ons for the sentiment and thought it would look super cute to use the Butterfly die cut to finish it off. I also used the new Shimmer paint to stamp the swirl design on the butterfly giving it some sort of pattern on it's wings. To finish it off I used Dazzling Diamonds to edge the butterfly and make it sparkle and used pearl halves which I colored to make the body.

Hope you enjoy, have a wonderful day!!!

Arrrrr Pirates

Earlier this week I mentioned I would be making some more creations using this cute stamp set, Beware Pirates. Here is another one I made last night. This layout was a challenge on SCS a while back and I thought it would work well with this stamp set.

The card base is Basic Black cardstock. I used two older retired designer papers on this card. I really thought that they both fit the pirate theme so well. The main image was stamped with black ink on Whisper White cardstock then layered on black cardstock using my perfect layers tool. This is one of my most used tools. The red layer is made using the square scallop punch. I know, you are saying to yourself, it is a small punch, how did you do that, right? I actually punched out 9 squares and glued them together to make the size I wanted, pretty cool, huh? I then used my paper piercer to make holes in each scallop.

To finish off this card I used a new recipe for shimmer mist which uses Stampin' Up!'s new shimmer paint. This gives a beautiful shimmer all over the cardstock. It is a much pretty sparkle in person and hard to get a good picture of with inside lighting. The brads are silver brads from SU that I colored since I didn't have and black or red brads handy.

Hope you all enjoy!

Getting Ready for Christmas Using Winter Post

Well today I was playing around with my Big Shot and Top Note die also the Winter Post stamp set. If you haven't seen this stamp set, it is just adorable. I have made three cards using this stamp set and the top note die tonight. Hoping this gives you some inspiration for your own Christmas cards this year.

This first card here was done using the quilting technique over the top of the Top Note Die. I just love this look and will be posting some other ideas with this technique later this week so check back again to see what I come up with. So what do you think, pretty cute huh? I really love the way this one turned out. If you like this technique, give me a call and we can do this at your workshop! Your guests will love how easy be beautiful this is!!!

This next card uses the same stamp set and the top note die but in a different way. The designer series paper was diecut and then trimmed along the perforated edge so you would be able to see the top note that was cut out with the Big Shot in Red. You will also notice that I only used half of the layered top note on this card. I used some ribbon and hodge podge hardward to put the sentiment in. This stamp fits perfectly in to the punch that SU carries to make the wonderful look. The base of this card is kraft and it was punched on the top layer with the scalloped punch for some visual interest and then I decorated the inside of the card to make it pop! Love how it came out.

This last card was cased from the tons of cards I have seen using this set. Unfortunately I have seen so many cards made with this set I can't remember if this is an exact case, if I changed it at all or who posted the original idea. So if it was your idea, please leave me a comment and claim it. I really like this card because it pretty much showcases almost every stamp in the set, how cool is that. This card uses Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Kraft cardstock.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Now get stampin!!!

Super Quick Scrapbook Page

My Digital Studio makes scrapbooking super easy. This page took me around 5 minutes, how awesome is that!!! With this program, I may actually get caught up with my scrapbooking. Never thought that would happen, LOL!

There are pre-designed pages all set up for you with coordinating embellishments, designer paper and stamps so all you have to do is drop in your photos and type in your journaling. There are pages that are more like scrap-maps where you choose which paper, stamps and embellishments to use. This is how I made this page, showing some of my favorite things at Disney. There are also blank pages where you get to set everything up yourself. So many choices and so easy to use, how can you beat that!!

If you have any questions about My Digital Studio, please let me know.
